The Red Flag Section
In addition to its comprehensive scales for assessing the severity of depression, anxiety and anger, QPASS includes a Red Flag Section for collecting data on additional psychiatric symptoms that often represent unhealthy coping strategies to deal with emotional distress, such as:
- Alcohol and substance abuse (items 89-91)
- Avoidant behavior associated with phobias (items 92-95)
- Hypersomnia ( i.e., oversleeping; item 84)
- Spending and gambling (item 97)
- Behaviors associated with manic episodes (items 86-88)
- Behaviors associated with eating disorders (items 85, 96)
- Sexual addiction/compulsion (item 98)
- Trichotillomania (i.e., pulling out one’s hair; item 99)
- Urges to commit violence (items 102-103)
- Suicidal ideation and planning (items 101, 104)
