Normative Sample Characteristics

The QPASS scoring system is based on statistical analysis of QPASS scores in two adult samples: a clinical sample of 495 outpatients (323 females, 172 males) who had been treated at over 40 mental health facilities across the United States by 46 licensed mental health professionals, a sample of 71 graduate students (55 females, 16 males) at a large Midwestern university. The general characteristics of these two samples are described in Table 1. More details on the characteristics of these samples are described in Chapter 8 in the QPASS Professional Manual.

Table 2 reports more specific race data on the Clinical Sample, the Non-Clinical Sample, and the samples combined. As the QPASS Professional Manual reports, no significant differences were found between scores of Non-Caucasians (N=43) and Caucasians (N=343) on almost all QPASS scales.
