QPASS Red Flag

The Red Flag Section 

In addition to its comprehensive scales for assessing the severity of depression, anxiety and anger, QPASS includes a Red Flag Section for collecting data on additional psychiatric symptoms that often represent unhealthy coping strategies to deal with emotional distress, such as:

  • Alcohol and substance abuse (items 89-91)
  • Avoidant behavior associated with phobias (items 92-95)
  • Hypersomnia ( i.e., oversleeping; item 84)
  • Spending and gambling (item 97)
  • Behaviors associated with manic episodes (items 86-88)
  • Behaviors associated with eating disorders (items 85, 96)
  • Sexual addiction/compulsion (item 98)
  • Trichotillomania (i.e., pulling out one’s hair; item 99)
  • Urges to commit violence (items 102-103)
  • Suicidal ideation and planning (items 101, 104)
